We begin with a guided sitting meditation, walking meditation and silent meditation. We will then share a teaching from Nhat Hanh and listen deeply to one another as we share what is on our hearts. 10:30am -
 UNICAMP

Every summer, Unitarian Universalists and friends from across southern Ontario and beyond gather at a beautiful 50-acre retreat on the Niagara Escarpment, Unicamp. A vital, welcoming multi-generational community has evolved there, with a deep connection to the land and the water. When a corporation announced plans for North America’s second largest limestone quarry on Unicamp’s doorstep, threatening the Camp, the surrounding community, and the headwaters of several river systems serving a large part of southern Ontario, UUs joined with farmers and environmentalists to build a popular movement to protect the environment. Unicamp’s gregarious Board President, Neal denHollander, will be the Speaker at this special Unicamp Service.

6:00pm -
  MIDWINTER GATHERING

Thursday, February 16th, 6:00pm at UCG

The Mid-Winter gathering is a time to connect with others within our Unitarian Universalist community, share a meal (this year provided by our senior youth group as a fun'raising event,  who will be providing the meal (vegan and gluten free options),  a bit of entertainment, children's program and clean up), celebrate our many committees and update you on the happenings at UCG.  This year is also a time to connect together for discussion on two currently significant topics.  Two break out groups will discuss a topic over the course of an hour, as we seek your input and to grow spirituality both individually and as a community.

Discussion Topics

Building - Our dreams about space: As we continue to grow as a community we are challenged by the limitations of our present space and want to discuss new and creative ways of accommodating our expansion. We will share our dreams and examine why there are important to us, as individuals and then in the larger group. This is the beginning of an ongoing discussion that will have ongoing opportunities for expression.  Facilitated By: Lorna Wyllsun

The question of God. - Where does God fit into our community?  How can we create space for all recognized sources within our UU organization?  How can we use our 7 principles to navigate us through ensuring space for our own independent spiritual discovery and also ensure space to support others in theirs?  This is a time for sharing our own experiences and ideas as well as a time for sharing the questions that our Spiritual Development Program Coordinator Mel Horvath-Lucid has been asked by congregation members over her past year and half with The Unitarian Congregation of Guelph surrounding God,  as a starting point for collaboration and sharing as we discover who we are now and vision for our future. Facilitated by: Mel Horvath-Lucid

After dinner during the break out groups, all children are welcome to join us downstairs in our newly created spiritual development space for crafts and art opportunities, lego, cupcake decorating, a dance party and social time together, with our senior youth group!!

Thank you to our generous community for your financial and time investment .  It is solely because of your contributions as a lay lead community that we are able to hold and maintain our building and meeting space, employ staff to assist in administration, Spiritual development programs for children, teens and adults, actively practice our principles through supporting social justice causes, caring for the earth by greening our building and offering quality and diverse Sunday services that challenge us, grow us and nurture us, creating and supporting a vital and strong community with your help!
