March 6 - Implications of the Truth and Reconciliation Report
Speaker: John Buttars
Service Leader: Harold Chapman

Just and equitable living:  At the end of Vol. I of The Truth and Reconciliation Commission there is a call for a new way of thinking.  It was a particular kind of thinking that undergirded the residential school system.  John Buttars as a retired United Church minister is part of one of the denominations that had residential schools.  He will share a bit of how he was blind to the absolute destructive reality of the system, explore a bit of his own blindness and then ask the following question:
What might we be blind to that later generations will ask, “How could they have been so misguided in their policies?  Could they not see how wrong-headed it all was?”
