Rites of Passage
The Unitarian Congregation of Guelph promotes freedom of choice and welcomes members of the larger community to explore the unique ceremonies we offer to celebrate weddings, funerals or memorial services and child-naming rituals/dedications. In order to facilitate these services the Unitarian Congregation of Guelph is served by our two lay chaplains Aspen Heisey and June Gilbertson. Lay chaplains are appointed by the congregation, provincially licensed and trained in the provision of meaningful, personalized ceremonies. Whose Ceremony Is It?
It is your ceremony. Our lay chaplains are prepared to facilitate a service which is uniquely yours. They will tailor the structure and content of your ceremony to meet your needs and preferences subject to legal requirements. Ceremonies will be conducted in a way which reflects and honours the principles of Unitarian Universalism.
Your Place or Ours?
The Unitarian Congregation building has a small sanctuary with a capacity for approximately 80 people. The sanctuary has been recently renovated and decorated. It is suitable for small gatherings for rites of passage but has limited facilities for receptions.The lay chaplains will conduct your ceremony at an agreed upon location in Guelph or the surrounding area, such as private homes, gardens, rented halls or the Arboretum.
Fees for Rites of Passage
Wedding Ceremony, Service of Union , Funeral or Memorial Service, Renewal of Vows $210.00 (Please note, that as a Welcoming Congregation, the Unitarian Congregation of Guelph is happy to perform marriage ceremonies for Gay and Lesbian couples.)- Child Naming - $110.00

- Rental of Church $50.00
- Rental of kitchen $50.00
