UCG Community Committees

Within UCG, there are many ways to connect with other's in a meaningful and impacting way, increase community, friendships and spirituality and be a part of a focused team.  Please find below a complete list of our current committees, each with a unique and different focus.

Our UCG Board

Meeting once a month, this important committee care's for the financial, special project and other decisions and much of the behind the scene's work and organization.  Comprised of a president, vice president, treasurer and members at large this dynamic team support's the smooth flow of our community and supervises staff.   If you are interested in more information on this committee or would like to attend a meeting or join the board, please contact Lorna Wyllsun (current President) lwyllsun@gmail.com

Sunday Services Committee

If you want the joy of working iwth creative minds and enthusiastic people to impact the topics, speakers and stylings of our quality Sunday Services.  Working together we create our calendar of services, offer Service leader training, vision theme's and topics for the year and work together to organize speakers, music and newsletter/website submissions to ensure other's know what is coming up in regards to services.  If you are interested in more information on this committee or would like to attend a meeting or join Sunday Services Committee, please contact Linda Reith lreith@on.aibn.com

Support Network (Caring Committee)

The Caring Committee meets throughout the year to discuss the ways in which we can continue to branch out and create supportive linkages in our community.  If you're going through a tough time, there are people in our community willing to help with a ride, dog walking, meals etc.  If you are curious about how we might help, to offer help or for more information, please contact Janet Colley janetcolley@hotmail.com

LGBTI Support Committee

Would you like to be a part of a continued movement to ensure equality for all in the area of sexual and gender orientation?  Create ways to continue to grow community connections and awareness?  Be a part of activism to see change happen?  Create and support continued opportunities for UCG as a community to be proactive offering support and creating awareness in the area of transgender person(s)?  Please join us a email to let us know you would like to be on an "updates" emailing list.  For more information contact: Matt Lucid matthewlucid at yahoo.ca

UCG Going Greener Committee

From low-flush toilets to earthy poetry: Are you interested in discussing how we can put our seventh "environmental" principle into spiritual and practical practice?  Possible ideas so far include developing children's programming around our new solar panels, working towards a greening sacred spaces certification, doing and energy audit of our building, installing a bike rack, doing workships on connection to nature...the possibilities are endliess.  To add your own ideas or to become involved in creating enviromental change, please contact Katie Gad katiegad@hotmail.com

Membership Committee

Caring for greeting, and supporting new people visiting or transitioning into our community, creating the yearly directory and more.  This is a growing committee with a wonderful energy for the care of care and direction to practices surrounding membership, visitors and integration of new people within our community.  For more information contact Janet Colley janetcolley@hotmail.com

PODS Committees

What do PODS do?  Our hospitality pods put on the coffee, boil the water for some tea, and bring a snack to share with the congregation.  For clean-up they make sure there is some lovely warm, soapy water in the sink for people to wash up their dishes with.  They wash out the coffee pot and finish up any leftover dishes.  This committee is filled with social fairies who offer care and social flare to our sunshine room after service.  For more information or to join a POD, contact one of our three fabulous fairy POD mother's Katie Gad, Molly Roberts or Dee Yates: dyates@gmail.com

Earth Based Spirituality Planning Committee

This is a new and emmerging committee dedicated to the planning and creation of 6 services per year dedicated to deeping our spirituality through earth based spirituality practices and traditions.  This growing committee is an open and expansive space to support the creation of more earth based spirituality opportunities.  For more information, to attend a meeting or join this committee contact Linda Reith lreith@on.aibn.com
